 Christmas in the Park 2011

Celebrating the birth of Christ

Christmas in the Park 2011 had one purpose – to bring Christians together in one place to celebrate the birth of our Saviour.

The event was supported by the Anglican, Australian Christian, Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, Seventh Day Adventist, Wesleyan Methodist and Uniting Churches as well as Family Radio 96.5 and Scripture Union.

Christmas in the Park united Christians and showing people that Christianity is a good thing for the human race.

The Christmas story

Christmas means different things to people – Santa and a fully decked out tree, giving gifts to loved ones, spending time with family, time off from work or a steady stream of parties.

But what about the true meaning of Christmas? As we move into the festive season, it is a time to remember why we celebrate Christmas. Christmas is a time to remember and celebrate the birth of Jesus. Just over 2000 years ago, Jesus was born into the world; his purpose was to save all humanity and bring them back to God.

Christmas in the Park is an occasion to rediscover the wonder of Christmas and to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.

You can find the full story of Jesus’ birth in the Bible. Check out the book of Matthew, chapter 1 and 2 or the book of Luke, chapter 2.
