Whitehill Church of Christ, in Raceview, Ipswich has been active in helping people recover from the floods. We have had many teams of people involved in clean-up and helping folk get back into their homes. Food and furniture have been donated and distributed, and grants have been applied for from the Churches of Christ in Queensland Flood Appeal, with over $45,000 distributed to flood affected church and community members. A number of our members also volunteered at the evacuation centre in Ipswich. Whitehill Church of Christ recently sponsored a community breakfast organised by East Ipswich Primary School and Family Radio 96.5. The school was hit hard by the January floods and subsequently 50 families have had to move out of the area. The free breakfast was for parents, students, friends and staff. The morning finished off with the Channel 7 chopper landing on the school oval and the event was featured on the news that night.
